Lock-In Night FUNdraiser

Attention ALL Lopes!!!

The AVHS Newspaper Club needs your help! We will be hosting our first out-of-school fundraiser THIS Friday, October 23, 2009. All funds will be used in order to publish our first newspaper- The Stampede- this year. We will really appreciate if you take the time to participate in this event with us.

L o c k - I n N i g h t

• When? Friday, October 23, 2009 from 9 p.m. - 12 a.m.
• Where? Mulligan Family Center in the City of Palmdale
• How Much? $15 per person
• Unlimited Use... Go-Karts, Blaster Boats, Rock Wall, Lazer Tag, Mini Golf, & Arcade
• Rules? Must have valid AVHS ID. No entry after 10 p.m. No exit & re-entry. Security on site. Bag checks required. Must be picked up by 12:30 a.m.
• Food? Snack Bar Open

$2 will be given back to the school newspaper for each student that attends & shows their valid AVHS ID.

CSUN Journalism Workshop

U P D A T E . . .

On October 17, 2009, six members of the AVHS Newspaper Club attended a Journalism Workshop at CSU Northridge. Among these students were Krystina Garcia, Katrin Alaverdyan, Luz Gurrola, Sandy Hernandez, Brenda Cayetano, and Patricia. We would like to thank our advisor, Mrs. Burke, for taking the time to take us all the way over there and enjoy a wonderful afternoon.

It was such a great experience being able to talk to ACTUAL editors of local newspaper. Many of them were from Los Angeles' own Los Angeles Times. We even got to hear a wonder and inspirational speech from the chief editor of it.

Also....
Our very own Lope, Brenda Cayetano, got honorable mention as she entered the Sports Writing Competition. Congratulations! :)
